Snowshoeing Arctic Valley
Snowshoeing and skiing are great ways to get out and enjoy winter. Anchorage is lucky to have a place nearby in Arctic Valley, just ten miles from downtown. Arctic Valley is unusual because it is owned and operated by the non-profit Anchorage Ski Club. Volunteers help maintain and improve the area.
From the downhill ski area, you can snowshoe or cross country ski up the valley to a saddle. Then you have a choice of turning north to go up Mt. Gordon Lyon, or south to Rendezvous Peak. The top picture above shows Rendezvous Peak as seen from Mt. Gordon Lyon. The other picture is of the Arctic Valley Ski Resort.
